Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali says Nigeria has the quality to overcome South Africa when both sides meet in a decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

Nwabali, who captains Chippa United in the South African Premier Division, expressed confidence in the squad’s depth and preparation ahead of the clash at the Free State Stadium.

“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see like a really big thing to us, but I know we respect them,” Nwabali told reporters.

“They are doing well, even top in the group, but I feel like even though it’s going to be a tough game tomorrow, we’re going to come out strong. Every game has its own plan.”

The goalkeeper stressed that matches against Nigeria often take on a different complexion compared to other fixtures.

“You might be watching them against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and some other teams. But when it comes to Nigeria, it’s a different approach. Likewise, other countries coming to play against Nigeria approach it differently,” he said.

Despite South Africa’s strong home record and current lead in Group C, Nwabali remains convinced that Nigeria can take maximum points.

“It’s going to be a tough game tomorrow, but I really feel that we’re going to win that game,” he declared.
