The husband of a human resources executive who was spotted getting close with her married boss at a Coldplay concert has spoken out to clarify that he and his wife had already separated when the footage went viral.

Andrew Cabot, a businessman who had been married to former Astronomer executive Kristin Cabot, 52, for two years, was on a business trip to Japan in mid-July when their family became the center of attention.

Kristin was seen happily swaying in the arms of her boss, Andy Byron, 50, while enjoying Coldplay’s music just moments before they realized their affectionate moment was being aired across the 66,000-seat Gillette stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Their reactions then became the stuff of memes, as Kristin raised her hands to her mouth before both she and Byron tried to duck out of the camera’s view.

Andrew was said to have been ‘blindsided’ when he returned to find reporters outside his $2.2million waterfront home in Rye, New Hampshire that he shared with his wife and his two children.

He has now confirmed to People that he and Kristin were already ‘privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert’.

‘Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,’ a spokesperson for Andrew, who is the CEO of Privateer Rum, told the outlet.

‘Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.’

The comments come after the Daily Mail first revealed that Andrew and Kristin were understood to have been separated after publishing a bombshell interview with Andrew’s ex-wife.

‘I texted Andrew right after it happened, and he said: “Her life is nothing to do with me,” and said they were separating,’ his first ex-wife, Julia previously told the Daily Mail.

Kristin filed a divorce petition in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on August 13 – less than a month after her affair with her boss was exposed to the world, the Daily Mail also reported.

Publicly-available court documents suggest the couple had tried mediation before they ultimately decided to split ways.

By the time the video of Kristin’s awkward kiss-cam moment went viral, Andrew Cabot is said to have claimed he was not phased by his wife’s apparent affair.

Another source close to the Cabots also noted that the family ‘is now saying they have been having marriage troubles for several months and were discussing separating, which I find interesting since, as of a month ago, they were saying how in love they are.’

Kristin had even been seen in a Facebook photo that appeared to have been taken in May 2024 wearing a massive wedding ring as she stood alongside Andrew and his two children from a previous marriage.

Andrew got married to Kristin in 2023.

It is unclear how the couple plan to split up their assets, as Andrew is a direct descendent of one of the original Boston Brahmin families.

The term refers to the historic aristocracy in Boston, dating back to the the earliest English colonists. These ultra-wealthy families held significant social, political and cultural influence from the 18th century onward.

Andrew is now heir to the family fortune, believed to be worth about $15billion.

The viral incident may also prove costly to Byron.

In his two years at the helm of Astronomer – which was in the process of securing huge contracts globally – is believed to have amassed at least $13billion.

He was also likely to have share options of up to five percent of the AI firm’s $1.3billion value.

It is unclear whether he withdrew share options before he and Kristin resigned from their positions at Astronomer amid the backlash to the video, which showed they had been seated prominently in the front row of the mezzanine.

As he became aware of the scene unfolding, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin quipped, ‘Oh what… either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.’

Byron, seeing himself on the big screen, appeared to mutter, ‘F****** hell, it’s me.’

The awkward moment elicited roaring laughter from the 55,000–strong crowd and soon garnered millions of views online.

As it continued to spread online, Byron’s 50-year-old wife Megan Kerrigan, with whom he shares two children, quickly moved out of their marital home and returned her wedding ring in the days following the kiss-cam blunder.

She even removed her married name ‘Byron’ from her Facebook page online – before she decided to just delete the account altogether.

Meanwhile, Astronomer was forced to go on the offensive – quickly putting both Byron and Cabot on leave before they resigned.

‘Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI,’ the company said in a statement amid the scandal.

‘While awareness of our company may have changed over night our product and our work for our customers have not.’

Pete DeJoy, who took over as the new CEO, also shared his thoughts on LinkedIn.

‘The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name,’ he wrote.
