Here’s everything you need to know about Swiped, including the release date, where to watch it, the plot, the cast, and where you’ve seen the stars before.

When is Swiped being released?

Swiped premieres at the Toronto Film Festival on September 9.

The film will then be available on streaming platforms Hulu and Disney+ in the USA.

UK viewers can expect the film to land on Disney+ UK on September 19.

Who stars in Swiped?

Swiped boasts an impressive cast led by Lily James, who portrays real-life tech whizz kid Whitney Wolfe Herd, the co-founder of Tinder and the founder and CEO of Bumble.

James, known for roles in Downton Abbey, Mamma Mia, Pam and Tommy, Rebecca, and The Pursuit of Love, among many others, also serves as a producer on the movie.

Joining her is fellow Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens, who plays Andrey.

Stevens has also starred in Beauty and the Beast, The Guest, Netflix’s Zero Day, and Love, Death and Robots.

Myha’la, known for her roles in Industry, Black Mirror, Modern Love, Premature and The Tattooed Heart, is part of the cast.

Jackson White, who has appeared in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies, Mrs Fletcher, and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, will also feature in Swiped.

Ben Schnetzer, recognised for his performances in Pride, The Book Thief, and Riot Club, is another member of the cast.

Actor and musician Dermot Mulroney, best known for his work on Sunset, The Hunting Wives, Chicago Fire, and Young Guns, also stars in the film.

Other cast members include Pierson Fodé, Ian Colletti, Mary Neely, Ana Yi Puig, Aidan Laprete, Pedro Correa, and Coral Peña.

What is the plot of Swiped?

Swiped tells the story of Wolfe Herd, who helps to create the online dating app Tinder, revolutionising romance in the 21st century.

However, the success of the app quickly spirals out of control, leading Wolfe Herd to launch a new app that gives women the upper hand.

Bumble, the new app, requires women to make the first move and they have 24 hours to respond to a match or it expires.

She also confronts her former Tinder colleagues after leaving the company to start Bumble.

The film was directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who also co-wrote the script with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele.

Swiped will be released on Disney+ on September 19
