SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Community members celebrated those making a difference for children in foster care at an event held at the Ships at the Sea Maritime Museum Tuesday night.
The annual Creating Brighter Futures is held by Brightside Child and Family Advocacy as a way contribution to a brighter future for Chatham County’s youth in foster care.
The award ceremony and cocktail celebration featured entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres and fundraising, all to support programs working to help local children thrive.
“Remembering they need a community to support them when they’re removed from the home is so important, “And we can’t do this work without our community.”
Community members who advocate for foster youth were recognized and the Judge John Beam Scholarship was presented at the event.
The scholarship is given to a young person in foster care pursuing post-secondary education.
The money raised Tuesday night will go directly to programs that provide advocacy, education and support for local children in foster care, organizers said.
