President Trump offered his first reaction Wednesday to Russian drones violating Poland’s airspace in a brazen move by President Vladimir Putin that stands to escalate the war with Ukraine and tensions with Europe.

“What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!” Trump wrote on Truth Social in a brief post.

A White House official said Trump is expected to hold a call with Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who just last week visited the White House.

Polish leaders said they shot down multiple Russian drones early Wednesday morning that had breached their airspace during an attack on Ukraine.

The incursion prompted NATO to scramble fighter jets and left leaders in the U.S. and across the globe warning that Russia was risking escalating the conflict in Europe.

“This is an act of war, and we are grateful to NATO allies for their swift response to war criminal Putin’s continued unprovoked aggression against free and productive nations,” Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) posted on the social platform X.

American and European leaders have long raised concerns that Putin could set his sights on Poland and other neighboring countries if he is successful in his military campaign in Ukraine.

Trump has struggled in his second term to broker a ceasefire or peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. He and Putin met in Alaska in August.

A group of European leaders as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Trump at the White House days later, where momentum seemed to ramp up toward a peace agreement and security arrangements for Ukraine, but the war continues to rage on.
