Britney Spears seems to have re-entered the dating world following a series of setbacks in love, yet her recent behavior on what she described as a ‘terrible’ date has caused concern among those close to her.

Spears, 43, shared a video of herself dancing in a bathroom at a sushi restaurant on Sunday during a date with an unknown man.

‘Dinner sushi date but I’m having my own girl party in the bathroom!’ she wrote in the post, while dancing energetically in a short black slip dress embellished with white lace and leopard print high-heeled boots.

As music played through a speaker, Spears recorded herself twerking and twirling in the vacant restroom. During her dance, her dress slipped, momentarily exposing her bare chest.

‘Yummy, the guy was absolutely horrible,’ she added. ‘Psss show effort, no makeup.’

Spears has been living the single life following the breakdown of her most recent relationship with convicted felon Paul Soliz, which ended in July 2024. 

But according to a source close to the Spears family, it will take a ‘confident man’ to fully woo the pop star who has had her fair share of rollercoaster relationships.

The insider told the Daily Mail that although Spears often ‘doesn’t tell any specifics’ about her dating life, there was ‘no way’ she met the unnamed man on a dating app or was set up on a blind date. 

‘How is Britney Spears going to be on Tinder? There’s no way,’ they said. 

Instead, she has been known to have potential suitors sliding into her direct message inbox on apps like Instagram.

‘Britney has responded to people on social media, but rarely.

‘It takes a certain type of guy to slide into her DMs. Of course, she gets a lot of them, and I don’t think she responds often, but I know it has happened. 

‘She’s attracted to confidence, and it takes a confident man to decide that he’s going to message her and start chatting.’

But that doesn’t mean the singer has never glanced at popular dating apps, with our insider claiming she was ‘looking’ following her divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari, 31, in 2024.

The singer’s latest date comes following her split with Soliz – a housekeeper and handyman on her staff, who reportedly became her lover.

But her fling with the ‘deadbeat’ dad-of-nine sparked concerns with those closest to Spears – including those who worried it would jeopardize her relationship with her sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden, 18.

Spears shares her two children with ex-husband Kevin Federline, who was granted sole physical and legal custody of them. They were married from 2004 to 2007.

Over 17 years, she paid more than an estimated $5million in child support, with Federline at times requesting increases in monthly payments. 

Prior to her relationship with the former dancer, the singer famously dated *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake from 1999 until their split in 2002 – the sordid details of which were revealed in her bombshell memoir, The Woman in Me, published in 2023.

One of the most explosive claims was that Timberlake, 44, allegedly urged her to have an abortion when she became pregnant at the age of 19.

She stated in the book that it had been ‘one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.’

Spears added: ‘He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. 

‘I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.’

The memoir also detailed the battle to end her 13-year long conservatorship controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, which finally concluded in November 2021 following the widespread ‘Free Britney’ movement.

In the midst of her conservatorship, Spears sparked a relationship with model Asghari after meeting on the set of her 2016 music video for Slumber Party.

The pop star explained in her book that she ‘immediately’ knew she wanted him in her life, and was ‘instantly smitten’. 

The couple tied the knot in June 2022 during an intimate backyard ceremony at her home in California. 

But, 14 months later, Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024.

With Spears back on the market, her close friends and family are feeling skeptical about the men she might date because of her star power.  

‘No one begrudges her looking for someone to be with, but there is always going to be the question about whether the guy has her best interests at heart,’ they said.

‘Is he a good guy or a gold digger? Does he love her for her, or just because she’s Britney Spears?

‘There’s some concern in the family, but that’s not really about Britney, that’s about the guys.’

These days, it seems those closest to her are more concerned with her wellbeing than the status of her dating life.

A recent report from the Daily Mail revealed the shocking truth about the star’s erratic home life in her ‘messy mansion,’ where family insiders say Spears ‘isn’t functioning like an adult.’

Following a recent string of particularly bizarre social media posts, one of which included a look at Spears’s disheveled home, one source claimed the singer is ‘having an episode right now, and we are going to see her battle through it the way she has for years.’

‘Those close to her have seen this over and over again, and though it is monitored, they aren’t going to make any type of intervention,’ the insider said at the time.

Another source from Spears’s family said they are ‘worried,’ adding the star is ‘not doing well at all’ and that those close to her are ‘terrified for her future.’

‘Her house is a mess. She doesn’t clean up after the dogs, she doesn’t have someone there cleaning every day, and she just isn’t functioning like an adult would function,’ they said.

Some of her erratic social media posts have seen her dancing with knives, claiming she burned down her bathroom and ranting about ‘fake friends.’

She also sparked ‘mental health crisis’ concerns in May last year at the Chateau Marmont, as shocking photos showed her being escorted out to emergency services while barefoot and wrapped in a blanket.

She quickly denied the claims, insisting she twisted her ankle after attempting a leap in the living room in the early hours.

‘Family and friends are always concerned with Britney as they try to navigate her mental health while allowing her to still be able to do her own thing,’ the family source continued.

‘As much as they want to help her, nobody can really do anything. Also, if anyone sounds the alarm, then the ‘Free Britney’ people will come back into the situation.

‘So, it is currently a no-win situation with her. Because those close to her don’t want to step on any toes or say anything as they don’t want to be out of her life.

‘Everyone sees the same thing, from fans to friends. But there isn’t anything that can be done to move forward and it just ends up being a never-ending circle.’
