DENVER (KDVR) — Three people are reportedly in critical condition after a shooting at Evergreen High School on Wednesday afternoon.
Jefferson County authorities said there were reports of an “active assailant” near Evergreen High School. A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a post on X that at least two students were shot at the high school and were taken to the hospital.
A spokesperson for CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood told FOX31 that three people are in the hospital in critical condition related to the incident.
Jefferson County 911 said in a post on X at 12:40 p.m. that people with kids at the school should not go to the high school as it is “still an active scene.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office updated the reunification point to Burgen Meadow Elementary, located at 1928 S. Hiwon Dr.
The county sent out an “urgent lookout alert” to people in the area, saying that there was an “active shooter” reported at the school.
A spokesperson for West Metro Fire Rescue told FOX31 that it is not the primary responding agency, but said it sent two ambulances, four medical staff and one chief for mutual aid. A view of the scene from SkyFOX showed several emergency vehicles outside the school.
