A girl has died after the car she was travelling in through NSW crashed before becoming submerged in a dam.
Emergency services were called to a dam on the Bruxner Highway near Tenterfield, in New England, about 3.30pm yesterday following reports a car had crashed.
The black SUV had hit a tree before entering the dam and slipping under water.
The passenger – an 11-year-old girl – was treated by paramedics after being pulled unresponsive from the water, but died at the scene.
The driver – a 68-year-old woman – was also pulled from the water and treated for injuries before being taken to Tenterfield Hospital in a stable condition.
Police have set up a crime scene and launched an investigation.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
