SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The streak of nice and comfortable weather continued for Wednesday. Afternoon highs reached the lower to middle 80s.

Conditions remained dry even with a few clouds moving into the region. More quiet weather will be with us for several more days. However, warmer afternoon highs along with more humidity will be with us.

High pressure located to our northwest is helping to promote a northerly breeze which is transporting relatively dry air into the southeast. It is also preventing any showers or storms from developing.

Warmer and more humid conditions will set up for the weekend and into next week as the wind becomes more onshore.

Rain chances will start to increase by the middle of next week as the next disturbance moves toward the southeast. Conditions locally will remain quiet until then.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

Sept. 10 is the statistical peak of hurricane season, and all is quiet with respect to tropical depressions or named storms in the Atlantic basin.

The National Hurricane Center is now monitoring a tropical wave about to move off of the West coast of Africa. It has a low (20%) chance of developing into a tropical depression once it is over the open waters of the eastern Atlantic.

It will have to battle some wind shear, dry air, and some Saharan dust which will help to work against significant development in the near-term.
