Israel vows to attack Hamas leadership after Qatar strike

() Following an airstrike in Doha, Qatar, Israel’s defense minister has said the country will continue to go after its enemies “everywhere.”

Israel Katz’s statement comes as Israel launched another airstrike in Yemen on Wednesday, this time targeting Houthi rebels in Sanaa, the country’s capital. The Doha strike on Tuesday targeted Hamas leadership and killed six people.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said it will retaliate against Israel for the strike, according to The Hill.

The IDF said they specifically hit Houthi infrastructure like fuel storage facilities and military camps. For the last few weeks, Israel and the Houthis have been engaged in back-and-forth attacks with each other. Sirens sounded around the Jerusalem area after the Houthis launched a ballistic missile that was intercepted.

Earlier in the week, more than a handful of drones were launched at Israel, all of them being intercepted except for one that hit a small airport in the south of Israel, causing minor damage.

Katz, in a post on social media platform X, said in part: “Israel’s security policy is clear – Israel’s long arm will act against it’s enemies anywhere. There is no place where they can hide.” He was referring to Operation “Summit of Fire,” which included the Doha strike.

The strike in Qatar, also a U.S. ally, has not yet been deemed a success because Israel has not confirmed whether it killed the senior Hamas leaders. However, reports from Israeli media indicated that they were not in the building the IDF hit, leaving minutes before the strike.

Meanwhile, Hamas said five of its members were killed, but failed to assassinate the five senior leaders. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee spoke on how this may affect negotiations.

“The honest answer is we simply don’t know. Hamas has rejected everything so far; they continually reject every offer that’s put on the table,” Huckabee said. “They rejected one the other day that pretty much has been the position of the president throughout [this], and that is that they have to surrender and cannot have a future in Gaza.”

Huckabee added they also must let the remaining Israeli hostages go. Since the strike, President Donald Trump has spoken with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump previosuly stressed that he was “not thrilled” about Israel hitting Qatar.
