OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to identify a driver accused of hitting a motorcyclist in Osceola County and then leaving the scene.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Aug. 4 at the intersection of U.S. 192 and Celebration Place, according to troopers. Traffic-camera video shows a car slamming into a motorcycle and dragging the rider through the intersection before driving away.

The victim, Mia Phillips, told News 6 the crash has upended her life.

“I have a broken tibia and a broken fibula and I have a hematoma blood clot on my brain,” Phillips said. “I can’t walk. I have 13 screws and two metal plates and I won’t be able to walk for a while. I lost my job, I lost my place because I don’t have a job, and I basically lost everything. The person left me right on the ground and just pulled off.”

Troopers said that while the crash was caught on video, the license plate cannot be made out. The hit-and-run driver has not been identified. FHP is urging anyone with information to contact the agency or call Crimeline.

Phillips said she is now homeless and facing mounting medical bills. She has started a GoFundMe seeking community support.

“You wake up every day and you know you hit someone, you know what you did, and you don’t care,” Phillips said. “I feel like you treated me like trash, like I didn’t mean nothing.”

After speaking with News 6, Phillips returned to the hospital for an MRI because of numbness and pain. But before going inside, she addressed the driver directly.

“I know we all make mistakes. Things happen,” she said. “I really, really need for you to come forward and let us know. That’s what insurance is for. Help me so I can help you, so we can help each other and just make this a better situation.”
