The release said that deputies responded to the 100 block of New Salem Road after a witness reported that a young child approached their residence to ask for directions before returning to the vehicle. The witness reportedly told Gardner to park the car before she drove to the end of the cul-de-sac and parked. The witness then called 911, according to the release.

According to the release, deputies found the child and found Garland lying in the front seat of the vehicle. She reportedly told deputies she had been drinking.
