Teen Mom 2’s Kailyn Lowry candidly opened up about grappling with heavy period woes, a neck lift recovery and parenting seven children at the same time.

Speaking on the Thursday, September 11 episode of podcast “Coffee Convos,” Lowry, 33, detailed how she got her period while recovering from the neck lift surgery, which caused more issues than she expected.

“I bled through everything,” Lowry divulged. “I severely underestimated the healing that is of a neck lift”

The reality TV star added, “I have been fighting for my life.”

Lowry added that her parenting responsibilities added another battle as she recalled bleeding while taking five of her kids to the dentist.  (Lowry shares Elliott, 15, with Jo Rivera, Lincoln, 11, with Javi Marroquin and Lux, 8, and Creed, 5, with Chris Lopez. The podcast host and Elijah Scott also welcomed Rio in 2022 and announced the birth of twins Verse and Valley in 2024.)

The leakage issue was then compounded when she was unable to change before having to drop her children off  at school.

 “I bled through my clothes with my period … I bled through everything,” Lowry admitted. “I had to go into the schools like that”

Lowry added that it had been some time since she last had a similar concern with her period, but the issue had returned.

“I had it mostly under control,” she said. “And now I’m back to bleeding through my stuff three times a day. I have been wearing men’s boxer briefs to keep a pad in place with a tampon in.”

The candid confession isn’t the first time Lowry has spoken publicly about her period. In the past, she has encouraged parents to educate their kids, particularly their sons, about menstruation.

“Teach your sons about periods because we’re on vacation and I just unexpectedly got my period,” Lowry said in a video posted via TikTok in April. “Now normally I wouldn’t freak out about this, but I have four of my boys with me by myself.”

Lowry has polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and due to this condition, she has inconsistent period cycles. Because her periods can be so unexpected, she is open with her own kids in case she needs their help with an unplanned arrival.

“So thankfully, they know what to look for if I were to have a little Aunt Flow emergency,” Lowry  explained. “Isaac or Lincoln could go to the store for me and grab something.”

She added, “In the event we were out and about, I would have no shame asking my oldest son to check me. Because sometimes you just don’t know if you leak through things.”
