Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole is steering clear of his blockbuster engagement to Taylor Swift.

During a red-carpet interview at the House of Champion event—co-hosted by Sports Illustrated for New York Fashion Week—the 33-year-old sports reporter declined to comment on the engagement of the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

‘Oh, no, no, no,’ Nicole — who split from Kelce in 2022 — replied as she glanced to the side.

‘But I’m really happy to be here at Champion, though! This is a dope party,’ she continued as she evade the question. 

Kelce and Swift revealed late last month that they were ready to walk down the aisle when they shared photos from their engagement photoshoot.

Nicole went on to agree that she was more focused on living her life than on looking back on the past. 

Kayla Nicole, 33, the former girlfriend of Travis Kelce, avoided discussing his high-profile engagement to Taylor Swift while speaking with the Daily Mail at the New York Fashion Week event on Thursday.

Last month, Kelce and Swift, both 35, publicly announced their intention to marry by sharing images from their engagement photoshoot.

Shortly after the engagement announcement, Kelce’s ex shared a cryptic post with her 846,000 Instagram followers. 

At the time, she reposted a clip of Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross discussing why she feels it’s important to find ways to experience ‘joy’ in one’s life.

‘Read about this very concept years ago in a book called Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough,’ Nicole captioned the clip. ‘I aspire! So so good.’

Although many fans assumed the post was a veiled commentary on the engagement, Nicole urged her followers not to read too much into her posts.

‘You know, the IQ of many people today is very low,’ she said bluntly. ‘I don’t take it personal anymore.’ 

At the Champion event, Nicole also weighed in on the prospect of dating other athletes in the future.

‘Gosh, I don’t have any celebrity crushes,’ she admitted.

Nicole explained that she had ‘met so many’ sports stars by working as a sports reporter that they now just seem like ‘regular’ people to her, without the mystique that fans at a distance might feel.

‘Oh, no, no, no,’ Nicole replied when asked about the engagement as she glanced to the side. ‘But I’m really happy to be here at Champion, though! This is a dope party’

She sounded surprised to learn that other men at the event had been asking if she was single.

‘Really?! Tell them, “Yes, I am!”‘ she replied jubilantly. ‘Who’s ever asking, absolutely.’

Nicole detailed the must-have characteristics of any man she might date.

‘I love an honest man, a man of really great character,’ she said, adding that they should like ‘to have fun’ and be ‘spontaneous.’

They’d also need to have a ‘great relationship with their family’ and have ‘really good girlfriends.’

‘This list is long,’ Nicole admitted with a laugh.

The sports reporter admitted that finding new partners via dating apps wasn’t her ‘vibe,’ so she needed her friends to step up and connect her to potential suitors.

‘I’m living in my little single season,’ she said, adding that Hot Girl Summer was going to turn into ‘Hot Girl Fall’ and ‘Hot Girl Winter.’

In a since-deleted Instagram Stories post, Nicole claimed that she and Kelce met online after he sent her flirty messages for months before she got some ‘liquid courage’ and asked him out on New Years Eve; seen together in 2020 in LA

‘We’re gonna receive all of that,’ she added.

Nicole also shared some praise for the event’s co-host, Champion, which was marking the first day of New York Fashion Week and celebrate its first 100 years. The invite-only event was limited to just 300 guests.

‘[Champion] gives a vintage, old-school vibe. I’m very much into that right now,’ she said. ‘It’s traditional, it’s sporty, and I feel cool when I wear it.’

Nicole showed off plenty of her own old-school vibe by wearing a blue-and-white striped button-up shirt with a burgundy tie.

However, she dressed her ensemble down — and sent temperatures soaring — by leaving several buttons undone to reveal that she was going bra-free.

Nicole left her tie undone and draped around her collar, and she tucked her shirt into a loose pair of flared midnight blue jeans with pointy beige heels.

She completed her casual-cool look by styling her shoulder-length bob with thick, lustrous curls.

The start of Nicole’s past relationship is fuzzy, but she said in a since-deleted Instagram Stories post that they met online via the social media platform.

‘He had been following me and insta-flirting for a few months,’ she wrote. ‘All double taps and no dm. Soooo after a little liquid courage and a pep talk from @iqueenb (something along the lines of ‘WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR’) I dm’d him on New Years.’ 

She and Kelce were first linked in 2017, but they broke up in August 2020 before reuniting.

However, the relationship ended for good in May of 2022. 

At the time of their split, a report claimed that Nicole had broken up with Kelce because the Super Bowl champ was allegedly ‘cheap’ and had forced her to ‘pay half of everything’ that they bought while together.

But she denied the report, calling it ‘absurd and very false.’  

Kelce also denied that finances had anything to do with their split.  

‘Don’t buy into that s***. I would never say that I was supporting her,’ he claimed on the Pivot podcast. ‘She had a very financially stable life and what she was doing in her career.’

He added, ‘You’ve got to be crazy if you think I’d never helped or gave her a couple dollars to grab some food or she gave me some money…’

‘We were in a relationship for five years. A hundred dollars here and hundred dollars there wasn’t even thought about, which is ridiculous.’

Kelce and Swift were first linked in October 2023, but he had made his interest in the hitmaker known as early as July of that year. 

Nicole’s latest comments come after she recently revealed that the ‘the most player sh**’ a man can give a woman is to ‘put an M in her bank account’.

‘The most player sh** you could do is put an M in her bank account,’ she said during a recent episode of her podcast The Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole. ‘Give her a kid. Last name is cool though, I’m not gonna lie. That’s a flex. But I think generational wealth is the greatest thing you can give a woman.’
