ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two Orange County corrections officers were taken into custody after they were caught in a major drug scheme going on at the county jail, according to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.

MBI officials said that back in spring, the county’s corrections department had continually noticed inmates seemingly under the influence of drugs while in jail.

In a release, investigators said they began looking into the source of these drugs, and six months later, 36 people are being charged in connection with drugs being brought into the jail.

While 22 of the suspects were inmates at the time of these offenses, two of the defendants were identified as corrections officers Danielle Lamb, 39, and Sharnese Warren, 39.

The pair face the following charges:

  • Danielle Lamb: Introduction of contraband into a county facility

  • Sharnese Warren: Racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device

Meanwhile, the release shows that another suspect is a private attorney, who faces charges after transporting illegal drugs into the jail while acting as an inmate’s attorney.

“The Orange County Corrections Department condemns the actions alleged regarding the two officers charged in this investigation,” Corrections Department Chief Louis Quinones said in a statement. “Such misconduct is not in line with the more than 1,600 men and women performing honorably within the agency.”

Anyone with further knowledge of these crimes is encouraged to contact the MBI at (407) 836-9701.
