BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Midnight Waltz and Comanche, two horses that were stolen from their stable in Blountville on Sept. 3, have been located in Kentucky. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said one person has been arrested.

Owner Patsy Mullins informed News Channel 11 on Friday afternoon that her and her husband Lonnie’s horses had been found.

“Praise the Good Lord that Kentucky State Police and Blountville Detective Peters found our horses, and your video was a major help. They are bringing our horses to us TODAY!!!” Patsy Mullins said in a text message to News Channel 11.

The SCSO said Friday in a social media release that one man, Matthew Lee Stewart, 34, of Blountville, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Burglary
  • Theft over $10,000 but less than $60,000
  • Two counts of Animal Cruelty
  • Money Laundering

Stewart is being held in the Sullivan County Jail, according to SCSO.

Patsy Mullins stated that Midnight Waltz and Comanche are Painted Tennessee Walkers, valued between $5,000 and $10,000; however, she expressed that their “gentle and sweet” nature is priceless to her family.

“They’re like our children,” she said in an interview on Wednesday. “To us, they’re no big horse. They’re just our babies.”
