Why 'The Bear' star Jeremy Allen White skipped Emmys 2025

One chef is missing at this year’s Emmy Awards.

According to Variety, Jeremy Allen White was absent from the LA ceremony at the Peacock Theater on Sunday night due to attending his best friend’s wedding. This left his co-star and rumored real-life partner, Molly Gordon, to attend the event on her own.

The star of “The Bear,” nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Carmy on the popular FX series, has previously won this category for his role as the gifted but troubled chef.

Having claimed victory in the category for the past two consecutive years, this time White faced competition from Adam Brody (“Nobody Wants This”), Seth Rogen (“The Studio”), Jason Segel (“Shrinking”), and Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”). However, Rogen, at 43, secured the win.

During his emotional acceptance speech last year, the “Shameless” alum said his heart was “just beating outside of its chest.”

He gave his “The Bear” co-stars, including Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, a shoutout as well.

“I want us to be in each other’s lives forever,” White, 34, said at the time. “This show has changed my life. It has installed a faith that change is possible, that change is possible if you’re able to reach out, you’re really, truly never alone. I thank this show.”

The “Iron Claw” actor thanked “all those who stayed close to me” again during the 75th Emmy Awards in January 2024, when he won his first-ever Emmy.

“Thank you for believing in me when I had trouble believing in myself,” he said at the time.

White’s then-wife, Addison Timlin, had filed for divorce just eight months earlier. The former couple shares daughters Ezer and Dolores.

But this wouldn’t be the first time White has missed a big awards show, because he was noticeably absent from the 2025 Golden Globes back in January.

It was later revealed that the actor was unable to make the trip to the West Coast because he was on the other side of the country filming his upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me From Nowhere.”

However, White still beat out Brody, Segel, Short, Steve Martin and Ted Danson despite not being in attendance.

“The Bear,” meanwhile, is a 21-time Emmy winner and has scored an impressive 13 nominations this year, including for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Besides White, other stars from the show up for the golden statuette include Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach, as well as Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Lee Curtis and Olivia Colman.
