Prince Harry insists 'conscience is clear' about shocking royal family memoir: 'Not about revenge'

Prince Harry asserted that his explosive 2023 memoir, “Spare,” was “not about revenge” or airing “dirty laundry,” emphasizing that his “conscience is clear” despite the controversy it stirred within the royal family.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Harry, who is turning 41 on Monday, explained, “It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”

He further stated, “It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear,” adding, “It is not about revenge, it is about accountability.”

Harry’s defiant comments came just days after he visited with his father — King Charles — for the first time in 19 months, in what many believe is an effort to reconnect with the royal family after largely disavowing them and moving to the United States in 2020.

That meeting lasted less than an hour, and Harry continued on to Ukraine to visit with injured veterans and soldiers still fighting Russia there.

Harry’s trip to see his father notably did not include a visit with his older brother, Prince William, who was the subject of one of the more shocking tales in “Spare.”

The heir to the throne once allegedly attacked his younger brother during a moment of rage, according to Harry’s writing, which states he was left with “scrapes and bruises.”

“[He] grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” the book read.

Other claims in the tome included allegations that Charles regularly prioritized William’s needs over Harry’s, and that the king was extremely jealous of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

Nevertheless, Harry insisted to the Guardian that he had no qualms about what he’d written.

“I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public,” he said.

King Charles has been reportedly eager for his sons to make amends, apparently telling them “not to make his final years a misery” during a 2023 meeting, the Daily Mail reported.
