Chris Jones-Jalen Hurts heated trash talk captured on hot mic

Chris Jones had the stats.

Jalen Hurts had the scoreboard.

A tense exchange was captured between the star quarterback and the defensive lineman during the final moments as Hurts readied to kneel, securing the Eagles’ narrow 20-17 win on the road.

“You don’t even have 100 yards,” Jones seemingly said to Hurts while he lined up under center.

Hurts replied: “We won the f–king game, shut your ass up.”

After Hurts kneeled with 1:12 remaining, Jones appeared to jaw a little more at the QB although those words could not be heard.

“(Jones is) probably one of the best s–t talkers in the league,” Eagles star offensive lineman Lane Johnson said, per ESPN. “Top notch.”

While this drama unfolded, Fox commentator Kevin Burkhardt provided insight into Jones’s frustration with the clock ticking down to the game’s conclusion.

The defeat on Sunday added to the Chiefs’ rough start this season, leaving them 0-2 with both losses in tightly contested games. This stretch is notably the first instance in Patrick Mahomes’ career where the Chiefs have endured three consecutive losses.

This current skid goes back to February’s Super Bowl, when the Eagles routed the Chiefs, 40-22.

Hurts and the Eagles lit up Jones and the Chiefs in that game, but Kansas City’s defense did its part Sunday and more than gave the team a chance to win.

While Jones technically misspoke since Hurts tallied 101 passing yards, he correctly noted how the Chiefs shut down the Eagles’ passing attack.

Hurts completed just 15 of 22 passes with zero touchdowns or interceptions.

The Eagles rushed 34 times for 122 yards for an unspectacular 3.6 yards per average, with Hurts only tallying 15 rushing yards and one score on nine attempts.

Jones and the defense held the Eagles to just 216 yards, but Kansas City’s offense had another uninspiring effort.

Without Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce continuing to look unimposing, the Chiefs struggled to score for the second straight week.

The game-changing play came early in the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading, 13-10, when Mahomes did a quick throw to Kelce a few yards away from the goalline.

The ball careened off Kelce’s hands and into those of Eagles defensive back Andrew Mukuba, who scrambled to the Eagles’ 41-yard line.

Philadelphia scored a touchdown on the next drive to grab a 20-10 lead.

The Chiefs now head to MetLife Stadium for “Sunday Night Football” to battle the Giants in a clash of 0-2 teams, while the undefeated Eagles host the 2-0 Rams in a playoff rematch.

“We can’t have the turnover,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, according to The Athletic. “I’ve got to dial up something different than that.”
