One dead after stabbing in Rantoul

RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — The Rantoul Police Department is investigating a deadly stabbing that happened over the weekend.

Officers responded near the intersection of E. Wabash Avenue and Fredrick St. around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Anthony Brown said a male died following the stabbing.

Laurie Brauer, Champaign County Coroner, confirmed that her office had been notified of the death. As of Sunday afternoon, the coroner’s office was working to confirm the identity and notify the family.

No one has been arrested in connection to this incident as of Sunday afternoon. Brown encourages anyone with more information to contact the police department at (217) 333-8911.
