SSU names new assistant VP for government and community relations

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Savannah State University (SSU) has appointed LeAndrea Mikell as assistant vice president for government and community relations.

An SSU alumna, Mikell has an extensive background in government relations, strategic communications, community engagement, economic development and higher education.

“Ms. Mikell has been instrumental in elevating Savannah State University’s profile and impact,” said President Dr. Jermaine Whirl. “Her leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering dedication to our mission have made her an invaluable member of our team. I am confident that in her new role, LeAndrea will continue to foster collaboration, deliver meaningful results, and help guide SSU toward an even brighter future.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my alma mater in this capacity,” said Mikell. “Savannah State has a proud history of shaping leaders and driving impact in this community and beyond. I look forward to continuing to work with the campus community to strengthen our partnerships, expand our reach, and tell our story for generations to come.”
