The teen had said anyone who attended the vigil for Charlie Kirk “is getting shot up.”
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A teenager has been arrested after saying she would open fire at a vigil held for Charlie Kirk, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a police report, the teen, Imayen Ekanem, 18, had finished her shift at a local fast-food chain on Saturday, Sept. 13, when she had posted a picture of the vigil that was to be held the following day on her private Snapchat story. Police say that Ekanem added text to the image, saying “not on my bday” and that “whoever goes is getting shot up.”
The report says that multiple people had viewed the post before it was initially reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police say that during an interview with Ekanem, she said that she disagreed with Kirk’s beliefs, specifically his beliefs on the topic of gun violence.
Ekanem is charged with one count of written/electronic threat to commit a mass shooting/terrorism act. She currently has no bond.
