While discussing the growing vaccine skepticism amongst Americans, Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out on The View that the Covid-19 vaccine still stands as one of President Donald Trump’s “greatest successes,” even if he doesn’t particularly take credit for it.

During their Hot Topics chat, Griffin shared a clip from a Senate hearing in which physician Debra Houry told Sen. Bernie Sanders that Operation Warp Speed “such a godsend for this country” that “saved millions of lives.”

Operation Warp Speed was a partnership created during the pandemic that accelerated the development, manufacturing and distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“It was unquestionable. It was one of Donald Trump’s greatest successes,” Griffin said. “He should take credit for it. He should lean into it.”

When Joy Behar questioned why he doesn’t, Sara Haines speculated, “Maybe cause it doesn’t align with some narratives in his base.”

“But listen, we’re the envy of the world because we got the vaccine as quickly as we did,” Griffin said. “That’s something we should be proud of as Americans.”

Griffin also pointed out that recent polls show many Americans still trust vaccines that have been around for “decades.”

“While it’s true that faith – definitely in big pharma, but in a lot of these vaccines – is declining, still a majority of the country supports the long well-trusted vaccines that we’ve been having for decades,” she noted.

Behar later questioned by pharmaceutical companies have not gotten involved in raising awareness, an idea which Haines ultimately shot down.

“They shouldn’t be the champions, the doctors should,” she said.
