French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are preparing to submit scientific and photographic evidence to a US court to prove Brigitte is a woman.

France’s first couple will provide the material as part of a defamation case they have launched against US conservative influencer Candace Owens, who has claimed Brigitte was born a man.

The Macrons’ lawyer, Tom Clare, told the BBC the claims had been “terribly upsetting” for the couple and had been a “distraction” for the French president.

Owens’ legal team has responded with a motion to dismiss the claim.

Clare says there will be “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature”.

It will show “both generically and specifically” that the allegations are false.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” he said.

“It is a process that she will have to subject herself to in a very public way.

“But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”

The evidence may also include photos of Brigitte pregnant and raising her children, if there are court standards and regulations, said Clare.

In March, Owens revived an absurd conspiracy theory with a YouTube video titled “Is France’s First Lady a Man?” according to the lawsuit filed in the Delaware Superior Court.

Promoted widely on X, Owens said the conspiracy theory was, “likely the biggest scandal in political history”.

Since then, Owens has produced numerous videos about Brigitte Macron for her nearly 4.5 million YouTube subscribers, including a multi-part series called “Becoming Brigitte”.

The lawsuit further claims she has also sold merchandise promoting the claim.
