JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is in the hospital after police say someone fired about a dozen bullets into a home.
Police say the victim was sleeping at the time of the attack.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for a gunman who fired more than 10 shots into a home in the Riverview area. One of those bullets struck a man in his 20s while he was lying in bed.
According to police, the shooting happened just before midnight at a home on Lauder Avenue.
Right now, the search is on for the unknown gunman, who may have been in an SUV that stopped in front of the victim’s house before opening fire.
Police say the victim was hit once in the leg. Two other adults and a child were also inside the home at the time but were not hurt.
Sgt. Smith with JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit says as they process the crime scene, they do not believe the incident was gang-related.
The victim is now in stable condition and is expected to recover from his injuries.
