Nina Dobrev isn’t going to let the breakup blues get the best of her as she yachts with celebrity friends in Europe.
In early September, signs of trouble between Nina Dobrev and Shaun White emerged when The Vampire Diaries star appeared at the Toronto Film Festival sans engagement ring. Eagle-eyed fans noticed she also unpinned her engagement announcement from Instagram. Then, on September 11, Dobrev and White disclosed their breakup, a reportedly “mutual decision” made with “respect.” Now that the dust has settled, Dobrev isn’t letting loneliness keep her down.
Nina Dobrev spotted yachting with star-studded friend group
The 35-year-old has parted ways with Shaun White after five years together, choosing joy with friends on a sun-soaked yacht trip. Dobrev appeared in photos posted to Instagram by Keleigh Teller, sipping on Aperol spritzes and smiling with her pals. The rebound crew included Keleigh’s husband, The Gorge star Miles Teller, along with Zac Efron and Chace Crawford.
Dobrev glowed in a chic black swimsuit and coordinated effortlessly with Keleigh in a breezy sundress, lounging on the deck. Efron sported newly platinum blond hair. He, Miles, and Crawford wore relaxed pants and button-ups for visits to shore, ditching their shirts for sunshine while lounging on the deck of their boat. None of the celebs gave away their location, but the group appears to be boating in Western Greece, specifically the Aigialeia region, given the nearby landmarks.
Nina Dobrev’s friendships run deep
Nina Dobrev and Chace Crawford’s friendship dates back to at least 2014, when they spent Thanksgiving together, accompanied by mutual friend Jessica Szohr. They also joined Szohr and her husband, NFL star Tony Romo, at a pre-Super Bowl party in 2015. They’ve maintained a close friendship over the years, often appearing together at events and gatherings. For instance, in January 2024, they celebrated New Year’s in St. Barths with mutual friends, including Miles and Keleigh Teller.
Dobrev is a longtime friend of the Tellers. She attended their 2019 wedding in Maui and often double-dated with them and White. She’s also known Efron since at least 2019, when they worked out together for Efron’s YouTube show “Gym Time.”
Why did Nina Dobrev and Shaun White break up?
A source told Us Weekly that Nina Dobrev wanted to start a family, while Shaun White was not aligned with these plans. However, fans suspect other motives. The couple was in the middle of planning their future and building a home together. Dobrev posted a series of photos as recent as September 5, highlighting a trip to Greece she and White enjoyed as a couple.
Rumors surfaced on Reddit that the Olympic gold medalist had cheated, but a source close to the couple immediately dismissed these, calling the speculation “ridiculous.”
