MONTICELLO, Ill. (WCIA) — A 46-year-old man is being accused of vehicle theft after trying to sell stolen property on Facebook Marketplace in Monticello.
On Friday, Monticello Police officers investigated a theft from a property owned by the city. The stolen property was posted on Facebook Marketplace for sale by 46-year-old Kevin Taylor. Officers went to a local address commonly associated with Taylor and located the stolen property. Also found on the property was a stolen motor scooter from Decatur.
While Monticello officers were at the address continuing to investigate, Taylor arrived and was arrested. Taylor was found to be in possession of a car battery he took from someone he knew. He has been charged with the following:
- Theft
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Trespassing to state-supported property
Additionally, Taylor is currently on pre-trial release for burglary charges filed in Piatt County earlier this year. He was charged in July for burglary from a local Monticello business.
