TOOMBS COUNTY, Ga. () — The City of Vidalia and Toombs County are partnering with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to host Scrap Tire Amnesty Week.

The initiative will offer free disposal of qualifying scrap tires to residents of Toombs County to prevent illegal dumping on public and private properties. The event will begin on Monday, Sept. 22, and will end on Friday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m.

Tires may be disposed of from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Toombs County Landfill entrance, located on Hwy 15, next to Georgia Forestry in Lyons, Ga.

Passenger car and light truck tires will be accepted, as well as non-commercial semi-tractor trailer tires with no rims.

However, heavy equipment or skidder tires will not be accepted. Tires from retail dealers or commercial sources such as farmers or loggers will not be accepted.
