Champaign Co. Crime Stoppers seeking tips on threats made in parking lot

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department and Champaign County Crime Stoppers are asking for help in identifying the suspect in an aggravated assault they said happened earlier this month.

The crime happened on Monday, Sept. 8, in the parking lot of 512 South Neil Street. Officials said that at 11:33 a.m., an unknown male screamed at and made threats toward people who were unloading their cars.

Bystanders intervened and the suspect ultimately left the area.

He was captured on video, still frames from which Crime Stoppers provided. The suspect was a white man, approximately 30 to 45 years old, 5′ 11″ to 6′ 1″ tall and 175 to 200 pounds. He was bald, had a beard, was wearing a black shirt and black pants, and was carrying a black backpack and a black baseball cap.

Anyone with information on this crime, such as the suspect’s identity, is asked to submit their knowledge to Champaign County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 217-373-8477, visiting their website or using the P3 Tips app.

All tips are submitted anonymously and are eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
