Aldi has recalled a brand of wholefood balls over fears there may be metal inside them.

The supermarket has issued a warning today over four wholefood balls by Made Real due to the “potential presence of foreign matter”, which may cause illness or injury if eaten.

The recall applies to Made Real’s 69-gram cashew, cocoa and berry flavoured wholefood balls with dates marking July 3, July 4, July 15, July 16 and the 184-gram version with dates marking September 3 and September 4.

It also affects Made Real’s 69-gram peanut butter and caramel flavoured wholefood balls with dates marking April 16, April 17, May 20, May 21, July 9 and July 10 and the 184-gram version with dates marking May 19, May 21, August 5, August 6 and September 5.

Consumers are advised not to eat the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. 

Anyone worried about their health should seek medical advice.

Tasti said it discovered the potential presence of the “exceptionally thin metal wire originating from imported raw materials”.

“Tasti products undergo metal detection checks before being released to market in this particular case the metal wire detected is extremely fine, and therefore not always detectable,” the statement said
