London’s Natural History Museum (NHM) to host a Pokémon pop-up shop in the new year.

Marking the 30th anniversary of the franchise, the official Pokémon website reports that between 26th January and 22nd March, the Cranbourne Boutique within the museum will be turned into a special shop selling among other items apparel, stationery and a brand-new exclusive plush toy.

Products from the shop will also be available to buy online from January, with all profits going towards the Museum’s charitable mission: “including the work of 400 scientists conducting research and finding solutions to the planetary emergency, like reversing biodiversity loss and resourcing the green economy.”

Those wishing to visit will need to gain tickets, which are free and will be available online from 1st October. People can sign a priority list to be the first to hear when tickets go live and further announcements via the NHM website, with the list closing at 10am on 29th September.

This is not the first time the Pokémon Company has worked with museums. In Japan, the “Pokémon Fossil Museum” has toured the country, displaying among other things models of fossil Pokémon (e.g. Aerodactyl, Tyrantrum and Dracovish) alongside their real-world equivalents. The exhibit is due to appear in Chicago next year.
