A Florida woman is accused of asking a police officer what bond she would be placed under for hitting another woman — and then immediately doing so, authorities say.

Marina Goenaga Navarrete, 63, has been charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older, jail records show. The alleged attack took place on Saturday evening.

An officer was dispatched to an unknown location in Miami just before 8 p.m. regarding “a dispute over stolen property,” per an arrest report obtained by Law&Crime. The suspect, Navarrete, had apparently come to the location “to retrieve stolen shoes.”

Navarrete was speaking with an officer already at the scene when she reportedly asked them in Spanish, “How much would the bond be if I smacked her?”

It is unclear if the officer responded before the suspect “proceeded to walk over to the victim and struck the victim in the face,” the arrest report states, noting that the victim was a 72-year-old “elderly woman.” Navarrete was arrested “without further incident” and jailed in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

But how much was Navarrete’s bond? According to local Miami station WPLG, Navarrete was booked into jail on a $1,000 bond. However, she remained in custody on Monday because she was already out on bond when the recent alleged crime occurred.

Jail records show Navarrete had been charged with resisting an officer with violence to his/her person and three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.
