Police in Louisiana are investigating after a 10-year-old boy said he escaped two men who locked him in a vacant home last week.

According to People Magazine, the incident happened in New Orleans’ Algiers neighborhood on September 19, after the alleged suspects snatched the victim as he walked home from the school bus stop with his 6-year-old brother, just before 5 p.m.

The unknown suspects, described and two men dressed in black and wearing ski masks, allegedly pushed the 6-year-old down and grabbed the 10-year-old.

“My 6-year-old runs inside screaming and hollering hysterically saying they took my brother,” the children’s mother said.

The suspects reportedly pointed a gun at the 10-year-old before throwing him into a van and driving away.

The boy told police that the assailants took him to an abandoned home and told him to undress to his underwear.

“They were going to try to take a photo of me, like I don’t know, but when they tried to do that, that was when one of them left,” the victim told FOX 8 Friday morning. “The other one said, ‘I’ll be right back.’”

The child said that another boy, who appeared to be around his age, was also inside the home. The two children reportedly agreed to flee together after the reported abductors locked the door.

“They [the men] locked the door, so they made sure the door was locked, and that was when we tried to kick the door, and I kicked the door, and that’s when I had kicked the door down, and I had ran.”

The boy said he ran toward home when he saw his father in the neighborhood, searching for him.

“I just thank God for the strength I have for raising my child to be the strong person he was in that moment,” the boy’s mother said, adding that her son ran toward home wearing only his underwear.

So far, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named. Details regarding the other alleged victim are unclear.

Sgt. Barry Fletcher with the New Orleans Police Department told People that they are treating the incident as an aggravated kidnapping.
