BBC presenter Keeley Donovan has returned to work after a several-month absence. She filled fans in on where she has been and announced some huge career news. The former Countryfile Diaries host has been a journalist and weather presenter on BBC’s Look North since 2005, but she revealed that after two decades, she is moving to a different show.
Taking to X, the 42-year-old wrote: “A little update on me. I’ve been away from work for the last few months because I haven’t been well. Thanks to everyone who contacted me. In other news, my job is changing slightly. I’m really sad to say that I’ll no longer be doing my usual Friday weather slot on Look North. It’s always been the highlight of my week. In brighter news, I shall be presenting the weather every Tuesday and Wednesday evening on North West Tonight, and I’m excited to get to know my new patch. I’ll still be on here and insta with all my usual weather updates.”
Fans were delighted to hear she was doing well and took to the comments to offer their support, although many expressed sadness that she was leaving Look North.
“You are welcome to the NW. I am similar, having moved from the Far East (you from Grimsby and me from Flamborough Head) to work in the NW. ‘ It’s not Yorkshire, but at least it’s next door,’ as I say about this side of the Pennines!” One wrote.
“Good to hear you’re on the mend and very best of luck in your new role. …and sincere apologies for all the times I’ve said, “Oh do p*** off Keeley!” when you’ve forecast bad weather!!” Another quipped.
A third chimed: “Really sorry to hear you’ve been unwell, but glad to hear you’ll be starting a new job. You will see from social media that everyone has been concerned and missed you. Delighted to learn that we can still catch up with your posts over X and Insta. Take care.”
“Sorry you are leaving us on the east of the Pennines. You and your cheery smile will be missed. You are a talented presenter, not just of the weather, and I hope all goes well for you. With any luck we will see you again somewhere on the box. Best of luck,” a fourth penned.
A fifth added: “So relieved to hear that you’re welcome n the mend Keeley. We’ve missed you so much, I think @peter_levy might have missed you a bit too. North West are very fortunate to have you. Hope we shall still see you at some point here in Lincolnshire. Sending hugs xx,”
Meanwhile, a sixth commented: “Glad you’re on the mend, but sorry to see you go to t’other side of t’hill. Nevertheless, all the best in your new job.”
Keeley had previously disappeared from screens briefly in 2023, and she subsequently revealed she had suffered a devastating miscarriage, which she described as a traumatic experience.
