CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A one-of-a-kind playground in Champaign just opened.
The Treehouse is an indoor play space and consignment store. You can find it in the strip mall with Harvest Market off of Neil Street.
A few months ago, the space was just some walls and a dream. Now, The Treehouse is officially open.
It’s an indoor play space with a bounce house, arcade games, sports equipment, and of course, a tree house. There’s also a space people can rent for parties. However, that’s only half of the building; the other is a consignment shop.
Since opening, owners have said the community response has been very positive.
“People were super excited for the play area, first and foremost. There’s nothing like it on this side of town at all. And then, they were also very excited for the consignment aspect, which we are still growing and we’re looking for consigners still, but what we have right now is a great selection and variety. People were super excited for that as well,” said owner Rebekah Cain.
Like most of Champaign, The Treehouse will also be celebrating University of Illinois’ homecoming on Saturday. They are hosting a kids tailgate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with games, crafts, and the Illini game on.
