Palmdale Street shooting on Jacksonville's Northwest side leaves man dead

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said an “unknown suspect” shot the man from outside his vehicle.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot in the head while driving on Edgewood Avenue in Jacksonville Thursday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office told First Coast News Friday.

JSO Sgt. Scott said officers responded to the 500 block of Cassat Avenue in reference to the shooting around 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, Scott said officers located the man, who was then taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Scott said the man was shot while driving in the 200 block of Edgewood Avenue South. According to Scott, an unknown suspect shot the man from outside the vehicle.

After the shooting, a passenger in the vehicle was able to drive to a nearby area to call 911, Scott said.
