DENVER (KDVR) As questions linger among the community after the shooting at Evergreen High School, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is addressing some concerns and releasing information about the investigation.

In a post on Facebook on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said it has received questions about how many people were involved in the shooting. Soon after the event unfolded, the sheriff’s office told the public that they were unsure of how many suspects were involved, but they have since identified the shooter and said he worked alone.

The shooter was identified as a 16-year-old student who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“Investigators can confirm with absolute certainty that the previously identified suspect was the sole shooter. Our agency has no record of prior contacts with him,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, and so is the FBI.

So far, the sheriff’s office said they have found “no evidence of a so-called ‘hit list’ or any intelligence suggesting an ongoing threat to the school, its students, or staff.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

The school is having a soft return to class, which began this week. The two victims are still recovering, and the community is healing. Anyone who wants to help and support the community, the victims and their families can do so by donating to the Colorado Healing Fund.
