JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center has issued advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine.

Previously classified as Invest 94L, this area of low pressure is located near the east side of Cuba. It will continue moving northwest towards the Bahamas and towards the southeast coast of the U.S.

A Potential Tropical Cyclone is a classification given to a system when it has not quite reached depression or tropical storm status, but additional forecast products like a cone is available. 

Tropical storm watched and warning have been issued for the islands of the Bahamas. 

This is especially important because of timing. Considering how close to land this system will ultimately form, this allows for more decision making info ahead of a potential landfall early next week. Precautions should be taken ahead of time.

Forecast confidence is still relatively low by Monday, which is why the cone balloons out and includes areas from the North Carolina coast all the way to northeast Florida. This is why it is so important to stay weather aware, and be prepared for potential tropical impacts here at home by Monday. 

With the current forecast in mind, main impacts for the First Coast look to be coastal issues like dangerous rip currents, large surf and gusty winds.
