The coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland continues to generate buzz across social media, with Fuji artist Alhaji Taye Adebisi, popularly known as Taye Currency, stealing the spotlight during the ceremony.

According to previous reports from Legit.ng, the event at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State, was attended by notable dignitaries including President Bola Tinubu, the Alaafin of Oyo, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, among others.

Ladoja’s ascension to the throne represents a pivotal moment in both the cultural and political history of Ibadan. However, discussions online largely centered on Taye Currency’s performance during the coronation.

In his inaugural speech on Friday, September 26, the new Olubadan urged President Tinubu to support initiatives aimed at the development of Ibadan ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

During his performance, Taye Currency sang lyrics that praised Oba Ladoja while seemingly taking subtle jabs at other traditional rulers in attendance, drawing attention from many onlookers.
