According to the tweet, the decision to revoke Gustavo Petro’s visa stemmed from a comment made by the President urging US soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence.

The tweet reads, “Earlier today, Colombian president @petrogustavo stood on a NYC street and urged U.S. soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence. We will revoke Petro’s visa due to his reckless and incendiary actions”.

Recall that President Gustavo Petro made these remarks during a speech at a pro-Palestinian protest outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

“I ask all the soldiers of the US army not to point their guns at humanity. Disobey the orders of Trump. Obey the orders of humanity”, He stated.

Notably, Ernesto Samper, the President of Colombia from 1994 to 1998, had his US visa revoked in 1996 due to allegations that his presidential campaign was funded by the Cali carter.
