With Eric Adams having stepped down, there’s an opportunity to impede Zohran Mamdani’s seemingly relentless pursuit of Gracie Mansion.
If low-energy Andrew Cuomo or crime-fighting Republican Curtis Sliwa could also bow out like Adams, there’s a possibility of thwarting a potential leftist mayor.

The newest Emerson poll indicates Mamdani as the clear frontrunner for November, securing 43% of the vote (before Adams withdrew), while the remaining votes are divided among Cuomo (28%), Sliwa (10%), and Adams (7%).
New Yorkers dreading Mamdani’s tender mercies ought to get off their couches and vote for once. In a city where as few as 20% of registered voters bother casting a ballot, that means 6 percent of the entire population decide the fate of the rest.
Apathy is our enemy.
