Prosecutors demand judge sentence Diddy to 11 years in prison

Prosecutors have urged the judge presiding over Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sentencing hearing to ensure he remains behind bars for at least 11 years for the lasting damage he inflicted on his victims.

Ahead of his sentencing hearing in New York on Friday, prosecutors filed a late-night submission on Monday pleading with Judge Arun Subramanian to show no leniency to the fallen music mogul.

The rapper was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution but found innocent of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges during his blockbuster criminal trial in July.

He last week begged the judge to impose a sentence of just 14 months for his conduct. The judge has already rejected a proposed $50 million bail package.

In the 189-page sentencing submission seen by the Daily Mail, New York prosecutors requested a minimum term of imprisonment of 135 months – which equates to just over 11 years.

Additionally, prosecutors are seeking a fine of $500,000 to be imposed, describing a financial punishment as ‘fitting here since the defendant’s access to wealth enabled his crimes.’

‘The defendant’s conduct… lasted for 15 years, spanned across the country and the globe, and involved dozens of participants.

‘In the wake of his criminal conduct, he left [Cassie] Ventura and Jane broken and beaten.

‘Many others suffered at his hands, whether through physical abuse or psychological humiliation.’

Prosecutors said ‘time and time again [Combs] has shown that he is concerned only with his own power and control.

‘Only a significant term of imprisonment – meted out in a substantial number of years – can effectively deter him and show future victims that their abusers will be held accountable, no matter their wealth or fame.’

Prosecutors slammed Diddy’s lawyers efforts to minimize his crimes, arguing his crimes were exacerbated by ‘violence, threats and emotional control.’

‘This took an unimaginable toll on the victims, and the harms they have experienced should be accounted for in the defendant’s sentence,’ prosecutors said.

This was not a one-time instance of transportation or any kind of accident or mistake; it was an intentional, orchestrated scheme that spanned fifteen years.

‘To facilitate this scheme, the defendant sought out women who were moldable and whom he could control, who would be available at any point for a Freak Off or Hotel Night, who would succumb to his demands.

‘Although the defendant did not financially profit from this scheme, money is not what he needed.

‘What he needed was sexual gratification, and he stopped at nothing to get it.’

Prosecutors argued: ‘Even setting aside the violence, threats, and other abuse, the extensiveness and pervasiveness of the defendant’s conduct was serious and requires serious punishment.’

They argued that Diddy had accepted and admitted ‘he was violent toward Ventura and Jane.’

He made her [Ventura] feel like a ‘rag doll,’ and she had to remind him that she was ”someone’s child”.’

Combs revealed in his own filing last week that he has sobered up in prison after 25 years of drugs and alcohol abuse.

He argued this 84-year-old mother Janice and seven of his children rely on him. In her own letter, Janice pleaded that she wants to spend ‘the last few years of my life’ with her son — while conceding he ‘has made some terrible mistakes.’

The filing also claimed he maintained an ‘incident free record’ while staying at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

‘In the past two years, Mr. Combs’s career and reputation have been destroyed. He has served over a year in one of the most notorious jails in America – yet has made the most of that punishment,’ his lawyers wrote to the court.

‘Put simply, the jury has spoken. Its verdict represents an affirmative indication of innocence,’ they added.

‘It is time for Mr. Combs to go home to his family, so he can continue his treatment and try to make the most of the next chapter of his extraordinary life…It is the only just and fair sentence that could be imposed.’

The attorneys are asking that his sentence be 14 months with supervised release, as well as mandated drug treatment and therapy.

Combs faces an October 3 sentencing after his July conviction by a Manhattan jury on two Mann Act charges that outlaw interstate commerce related to prostitution. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The Bad Boy Records founder was exonerated on more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges that would have required a minimum of 15 years in prison and the possibility of a life sentence.

In their submission, Combs’ lawyers argued that a jury sent a loud message to the judge by exonerating him of the most serious charges.
