Pregnant Perrie Edwards fought back tears as she discussed the ‘hard’ fallout with former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson during an intimate gig on Monday.
Jesy, 34, quit Little Mix in December 2020, saying she found the ‘constant pressure’ of being in a girl group very difficult – she later drifted apart from Perrie, Leigh-Ann Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
The singer, 32, was overcome with emotion as she admitted she ‘struggled’ to navigate the end of their friendship.
She said: ‘I wrote this next song because I feel like we talk about heartbreak a lot in music, in songs, in life and it’s always romantically and we seem to forget that losing a friend or falling out with a friend or not having them in your life anymore, it’s f****** hard.
‘How do I navigate a life where that person has been there for years. They’ve seen me cry, they’ve seen my absolute demons, they’ve seen everything and then poof they are gone and it’s like okay.’
‘So I think I really struggled to navigate it and…’, she said as she choked back tears.

‘We love you!’, fans screamed in the audience.
Perrie continued: ‘Okay wait, don’t make me cry because my vocal cords are going to go funny and then I’m not going to sound good. Okay, we’re good.
‘Okay, this next song is called Same Place Different View.’
Speaking to Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Perrie had previously admitted her shattered friendship with Jesy had inspired a new song.
She said: ‘I wrote a song about it – a friendship I had that I no longer have. We don’t know how to talk about friendship breakups.
‘It’s still as heartbreaking – when you go through all these things with someone all the highs and lows and then they’re just gone.
‘But these things happen. Do we try and rectify things? Or just stay away?’
Last year, Perrie said it was ‘heartbreaking’ that she hadn’t talked to Jesy ‘for a long time’.

Jesy quit Little Mix in December 2020 and in a statement said being in the group has ‘taken a roll on her mental health’ (L-R Leigh-Anne, Jesy, Perrie and Jade in 2019)
In a candid interview with Cosmopolitan UK, the singer spoke about how the friendship now lies in tatters.
She said: ‘We don’t talk and haven’t done for a long time… It’s really sad, it’s heartbreaking.’
Perrie added: ‘But sometimes these things happen and people decide they want to part ways, and that’s absolutely fine. I would rather it went differently but you can’t control how things go.’
Perrie, who’s debut solo album is set to be released September 26, displayed her blossoming baby bump on stage.
The hitmaker is expecting her second child. She is already mum to son Axel with her fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
