SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Habersham School kicked off St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Paint the Town Pink campaign Tuesday with its Annual Pink Night by bringing volleyball teams together to support breast cancer awareness.

Tuesday’s event marked the 12th year the school has hosted the event

All proceeds from gate and concessions, even t-shirt sales, are donated to the Telfair Mammography Fund which helps provide no-cost breast health services for uninsured and underinsured people.

“All of us have been impacted in some way by cancer,” Head of Habersham Pat McCarty told . “Actually, one of our moms was going to speak tonight because she’s fighting breast cancer right now but unfortunately, she needed to be in Jacksonville for a treatment and that just drives the point home that it’s important that we help individuals to be able not only to detect if they have cancer to be able to fight it.”

There will be events running through the entire month of October including my ’s Tina Tyus-Shaw’s Healing Heroes Fashion Show Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion.
