The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a pedestrian was walking in the along Arlington Road North when they noticed the teen lying alongside the road unresponsive.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help after a teenage girl was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Jacksonville’s Arlington area Tuesday night.

JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford said on Tuesday at approximately 9:15 p.m., a pedestrian was walking in the 700 block of Arlington Road North when they noticed the teen lying alongside the road unresponsive.

Hungerford told First Coast News the pedestrian then called 911, as members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene and pronounced the teen dead upon arrival.

Hungerford said evidence at the scene suggested the teen was walking along Arlington Road when a vehicle ran over a curb and struck her. The vehicle also hit and “destroyed” a large section of a chain link fence, according to Hungerford.

“The vehicle then fled the scene without reporting the crash nor rendering aid,” Hungerford said. “Traffic Homicide Detectives gathered evidence at the traffic crash scene and are working to obtain video surveillance which likely captured the incident.”

This crash marks as the 125 traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025, and the 29th involving a pedestrian, according to Hungerford.

JSO asks that anyone with information about the crash, which occurred between 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, contact the sheriff’s office at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
