Courteney Cox hasn’t been drumming long, but she certainly impressed her combined 20.8M social media following with her skills performing along to Nirvana’s 1991 classic, Smells Like Teen Spirit, in a video she shared Tuesday.

The 61-year-old Friends alum is ‘almost there’ on the Gen-X anthem thanks to Twitch streamer Richard ‘Office Drummer’ Ray, whom she called her ‘mood booster and conductor.’

Courteney appeared to do a great job mimicking the moves of Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, who confessed to Pharrell Williams that his drum riffs from that era of his grunge rock band were all stolen from disco bands.

‘I’m the most basic f***ing drummer,’ the 56-year-old Foo Fighters frontman – who still can’t read music – admitted on Paramount+ series From Cradle to Stage in 2021.

‘If you listen to Nevermind, the Nirvana record, I pulled so much stuff from The Gap Band and Cameo and Tony Thompson on everyone of those songs. It’s all disco. That’s all it is. Nobody makes the connection.’

It’s hard to believe Courteney only purchased the drum kit back in February.

The SAG Award winner is also proficient on the piano and frequently shared videos of her jam sessions with all her ‘Sunday Supper’ famous friends including Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Ed Sheeran, and Natasha Bedingfield.

Courteney last made headlines on September 7 for reuniting with Bruce Springsteen while attending a US Open tennis match in Flushing Meadows, NY alongside her boyfriend, Snow Patrol guitarist-keyboard player Johnny McDaid.
