“We’ll show your balance from the last time you logged on,” the message said.

Other customers were unable to log into their online banking accounts.

More than 7000 people have reported an outage on DownDetector as of 12.25pm.

Banking customers who have reported the problem to the DownDetector website have experienced issues in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

“App doesn’t work, the lock just bounces and doesn’t unlock after entering security pin,” one Commonwealth Bank customer reported to the DownDetector website.

“Found out it was down when I tried to pay for my lunch,” another banking customer said.

“Joint account showing different balances, cannot access funds, cannot make transfers or payments, very frustrating,” another person reported.

In an update on its website, the bank confirmed some of its services were unavailable.

“An issue today affecting some of our services is currently being fixed,” the bank said in a statement.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

According to the Commonwealth Bank’s website, the issue is not a part of planned maintenance.

The bank said it would continue to provide updates to customers online.
