A hero truck driver has told of the moment he and a workmate waded into Adelaide‘s Dry Creek Wetlands to save a crash victim from his burning car.

The 25-year-old victim is recovering in hospital after being rescued.

The incident occurred after the man’s Toyota left Salisbury Highway and travelled approximately 50 metres into the wetlands, with the impact igniting a fire.

Prior to emergency services’ arrival, two truck drivers, John and Rylie, had already entered the water to assist the driver.

“Noticed the bloke, he was sort of half out of the car, so we just sort of jumped through the water, grabbed him out,” John said.

John then discovered the victim was not breathing and began resuscitating him, as Rylie flagged down arriving paramedics.
