ITV soap star Channique Sterling-Brown has broken her silence after it was revealed that she is set to leave Coronation Street after three years. The actress is believed to depart our screens later this year and is reportedly scheduled to film her final scenes in her role in late October. A source told Express.co.uk: “Posters are up around the Corrie set behind the scenes, it is common knowledge that Channique is going, and cast have been informed.” She is the latest cast member to exit the ITV soap, following in the footsteps of others who have already left over the last 12 months.

Addressing her exit, Channique said on Instagram: “After three whirlwind years of Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided to say farewell to the cobbles. Bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but I am so excited for pastures new and enjoying the end of playing Princess Diana and her many expressions.”

One fan said online: “Awwww, good luck with all your future endeavours my love! You’ll smash it wherever you go.” A second follower also commented: “So sad to see you go! You’ve brought so much to Corrie and will be missed. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you though!”

A third fan also chimed in: “I commented when you first started that everyone needs a Dee Dee as a friend so I’m gutted to hear you’re/she’s leaving,” completed with a crying face emoji.

Her departure comes after Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgeley), Colson Smith (Craig Tinker), Sally-Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor), Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw), and Shelley King (Yasmeen Nazir) have all confirmed to be leaving Corrie.

Daniel Brocklebank, who has played Billy Mayhew for the past 11 years, is also exiting the soap this year. Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster) is also expected to depart the Cobbles.

When previously contacted by Express Online, ITV declined to comment. Express Online has also previously reached out to representatives for Channique Sterling-Brown.

Channique won Best Newcomer at the Inside Soap Awards in 2023 and was nominated in the Rising Star category at the 28th National Television Awards.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
