ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Rays Vice President and Assistant General Manager Carlos Rodriguez announced Thursday that he will be leaving the organization after 15 seasons.
Rodriguez, who began his journey with the Rays in 2010 as a professional and area scout, has played a pivotal role in organizing and driving the team towards success. Throughout his 15-year tenure, the Rays have earned achievements such as capturing three AL East division titles and earning five postseason berths.
“After 15 incredible years with the Tampa Bay Rays organization, I’ve decided the time is right to step away and transition to explore other opportunities,” said Rodriguez. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and grateful for all the friendships I’ve made here — especially Erik Neander, who has been like a brother to me. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to lead several departments and work alongside so many talented and dedicated people. Those experiences have shaped me both professionally and personally, and I’ll always carry them with me. While it’s difficult to step away, I’m excited to see what the future holds and confident the organization is in great hands moving forward.”
Rodriguez stepped into the role of vice president and assistant general manager in 2022.
